The number of overlapping labels we use for Free/Libre/Open movements is, in a way, hurting us in exposure, marketing, SEO, information campaign, and becoming a household name.
Consider the following:
Yes, there different purposes and scopes even with the overlaps. Some refers to a very specific goal like OpenAccess and OpenScience (can you guess the difference?), it's confusing the public too.
But the other labels exist simply (maybe not simple) politics, ethics, approaches. We are all familiar with FreeSoftware vs. OpenSourceSoftware "wars" (that still rages to this day).
So, what is our umbrella term for all of these?
Free Culture? Libre Content? Open Knowledge?
What is a culture?
What is a content?
What is a knowledge?
Would it cover software? Databases? OpenSourceHardware? OpenEngineering?
Personally, I'm interchanging between Free Culture, Libre Content, and Open Knowledge (in that particular order).
