is dominated by the Japanese if the number of #ActivityPub
instances is an indicator. Yet no one has made a study as to why this has been considering how almost all platforms or software were developed by Western developers.
Something worth looking at as we may learn a lot of things that we can use to further the Fediverse cause. For example, should we be targetting the Asian market, especially the non-English speaking Nations? If you think about it, it could be a factor because Facebook and Twitter are not exactly popular in non-English countries. I've worked with a lot of Japanese and Koreans who doesn't even know FB and Twitter, some do have accounts but they rarely use it (and they have a lot of sensible reasons why they don't).
Any psychologist and sociologist out there who wants to dive in and study this?
